County Line Caboose

County Line Caboose Model Train store (all year round) and ice cream (seasonal) Friends Carol Allen and Jeff Leith started County Line Caboose as a college project.

Jeff brought an intense love of trains and Carol the location and desire to provide exceptional customer service. They first brought in a CN flanger (like a caboose) and sold scooped ice cream cones from it. Later that fall, as ice cream season waned, they brought in the model train supplies and sold those as well. Around 2002, they purchased a 45' trailer and turned it into something resembling a

boxcar connected to the flanger. This provided expansion for the rapidly growing model train business as well as freeing up some much needed ice cream space in the flanger. As part of their commitment to the hobby and modellers, County Line Caboose holds a free "Model Train Yard Sale" every spring on their property--always the weekend before the May 24 weekend. Attendance is often quite large, and the event usually includes sales and raffles on the store side in addition to a varied collection of items from the vendors. Any private individual can be a vendor for free as long as they sign up in time. Vendors typically sell previously enjoyed items, and you never know what you'll find. While their website lists a limited amount of items for sale, they can usually order in items that are generally available but not in stock--they've even been known to track down hard-to-find or no-longer-produced items.
