This is the “lone star” project I worked on, off and on, for about a year and a half. It was made from scratch, no quilts were harmed in the making of this coat. No pattern to share, it was freestyled, but it’s clearly a Lone Star base and then I decided to add New York Beauty (spikes) for style points. Solids are fableism supply co from Thread Count Fabrics, exterior florals are .

A quilted facing for my quilt coat out of one of my faves, Liberty Capel. Glad I decided to add this to the coat, despite the mental work of drafting the pattern to fit, piecing, quilting it separately and then adding to the seam before quilting the fronts. It better work out.

Christmas holiday craft busywork fuelled by cheese and chocolate. Finally got the set in sleeves designed and knit to fit the armholes that I didn’t really plan too well. The end is now in sight! Shaping a sleeve cap is hard, sewing the sleeves in is unenjoyable, weaving in ends is tolerable with a glass of wine. Got my new to me Juki 8700 all set up and pulled out my broken star quilt project that had been left crumpled in a tote. Still love the fabric selection over 18 months later, but can’t really go wrong with Liberty, the solids are Fables and they are very nice. Dug out my Amanda Jane pleater machine and after watching an hour of YouTube instructional videos, learned to smock. Reserved all the books at the library on the topic and now there are more things to make 🤗
