You may ask why anyone would still want to get a ๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐ข๐œ๐ญ๐ž๐ ๐ฅ๐ข๐œ๐ž๐ง๐ฌ๐ž? Even if you can not or donโ€™t want to own a restricted firearm. This is a question we commonly get, so letโ€™s answer it!

๐™‡๐™–๐™ฌ๐™›๐™ช๐™ก ๐™€๐™ข๐™ฅ๐™ก๐™ค๐™ฎ๐™ข๐™š๐™ฃ๐™ฉ -There are many professions out there such as law enforcement, corrections, the military, or even security where having your restricted possession and acquisition licence (RPAL) is a job requirement or, a huge asset on your resume.

๐™‡๐™–๐™ฌ๐™จ ๐˜พ๐™๐™–๐™ฃ๐™œ๐™š - Fi****ms law in Canada is constantly changing, what is the case today with such things as a handgun freeze, may not be the case tomorrow.

๐˜พ๐™ก๐™–๐™จ๐™จ๐™ž๐™›๐™ž๐™˜๐™–๐™ฉ๐™ž๐™ค๐™ฃ๐™จ ๐˜พ๐™๐™–๐™ฃ๐™œ๐™š - As was the case on May 1st 2020, when an Order-in-Council reclassified over 1500 types of fi****ms from the non-restricted/restricted class to the prohibited class, and many subsequent additions to that list.

๐™„๐™› ๐™จ๐™ค๐™ข๐™š๐™ฉ๐™๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™œ ๐™ฎ๐™ค๐™ช ๐™ค๐™ฌ๐™ฃ ๐™œ๐™š๐™ฉ๐™จ ๐™ง๐™š๐™˜๐™ก๐™–๐™จ๐™จ๐™ž๐™›๐™ž๐™š๐™™, ๐™ฎ๐™ค๐™ช ๐™ข๐™–๐™ฎ ๐™—๐™š ๐™ข๐™ค๐™ง๐™š ๐™ฅ๐™ง๐™ค๐™ฉ๐™š๐™˜๐™ฉ๐™š๐™™ - If the government was to come out and move all semi-automatic fi****ms into the restricted class (including your semi-automatic .22LR), and you already have your RPAL, the process to keep it is much easier.

Governments in both Australia and New Zealand have done this, it is not farfetched to think it could happen here. If you only have your non-restricted PAL, you will be in line behind over 1 million other Canadians simultaneously trying to upgrade. This will create long lines to access the course and even longer lines to upgrade your licence.

This reduces headaches for you.
