My 3rd free standing globe ornament.
Still working out the kinks a little, mostly how to shape and size certain spots.

This one is made with Mayday cherry Jarrah.

I also haven't figured out a price for them yet. They do take some time to make.

Started turning 2 more standing globe ornaments. They're a little tricky to hollow out. The outside and inside need to be done in 2 stages. Shape then hollow the top, then finish shaping the bottom and hollow it out more. Now to turn the steam and finials. Video of the other globe in comments.

Second one finished. Made it with apple wood for the globe and birch for the finial, stem and base. It fits together s...

Second one finished. Made it with apple wood for the globe and birch for the finial, stem and base. It fits together snug enough you can hold it without falling apart. Now to glue it.

It ended up just a but more bulky than I'd like. I'll focus on the bulk for the next one.

Well shoot... I wanted it flared.... at least it's a nice fit, not too small or barely bigger.

I'm going to try my hand at another one of these. I really like it.

Figured I better make a diagram with rough measurements. The first one I just started turning it, didn't measure anything as I went. Just played it by ear. Now I want to try duplicate it again. Now to choose the wood for it. I have an apple tree branch I think I'm going to use. Also pictured. Wish me luck!
