Some creations hold a little more meaning than others, and these wedding soaps were incredibly special for me to make.
I was honoured to create these custom wedding favours for a dear friend and her partner as they celebrated not only their marriage, but the coming together of two beautiful cultures.
The bride and groom to be chose a warm chai scented soap, and from there I created a design that felt earthy, warm and meaningful.
Each soap was poured in two layers: a soft, light chai-brown top layer made with chai tea, with a deeper, rich brown layer beneath.
Between the two layers, I added a very fine line of gold. This wasn’t something the bride and groom had asked for, but something I wanted to include especially for them. In Indian culture, gold is traditionally associated with prosperity, abundance and blessings, making it a meaningful little thread running through the centre of each bar.
I wrapped each soap in a rich turmeric-coloured ribbon and finished it with a whole star anise, carrying the warm spices and earthy tones of chai right through to the final detail. Star anise is also associated in various traditions with good fortune and protection, which made it feel especially fitting for a wedding favour.
From the chai and earthy colours to that delicate golden line, every detail was created with intention.
I was truly honoured to be asked to make these for my friends and to create something so personal for their wedding day.
Mandy-Rae & Tarun, I wish you a lifetime filled with love, happiness, prosperity, beautiful adventures, and two cultures forever woven together.
Congratulations to you both. 🇨🇦
