Kamloops Regional Farmers' Market Local. Delicious. Diverse.
A community place for local produce, foods, & crafts. Paul Street and the Stuart Wood Elementary Schoolyard.

We are a “Grow it, Bake it, Make it” market and member of BC Farmers Markets. Hosts 2 outdoor markets per week in Downtown Kamloops from mid April until the end of October each year. Has 1 Indoor market per week running from November until mid March. Wednesday markets are from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM in the 400 block Victoria Street. Saturday markets are from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM of 200 block St. Indoor Winter market runs from 10 AM to 2 PM on Saturdays at the Purity Feed Greenhouse (471 Okanagan Way, Tk'emlups te Secwepemc).

We may have the 1st frost but it is still possible to find heat at market, like with these spicy peppers. Come out and enjoy the flavours which seasonal eating brings.

There are only 3 more midweek markets, including today, until the end of the outdoor season and when we switch to the indoor farmers’ market at Mount Paul CFC on Saturdays from 10 AM to 2 PM starting Nov 7th.

The Midweek Market runs from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM, with vendors on the street so 400 block Victoria Street (between 4th and 5th Avenues) is closed between 7 AM and 3 PM. The market is located on the east end (nearer to 5th Ave) of the street and there is access to the TNRD parkade, The Plaza Hotel parking lot, and street parking on the west end of Victoria Street from 4th Avenue.

Motorists please use caution when driving in the vicinity and obey all traffic control devices and people.

We had the first frost in the valley this past weekend. It means frost sensitive plants like basil, and tomatoes are done. But it will still be possible to find some crops like tomatoes at market as they and few other crops like them can still ripen after being harvested. Plus there are ways to use them in their green form, think fried green tomatoes or green tomato mincemeat. Local is delicious.

We are grateful to live, work, play, create, and grow in Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc, in the unceded territory of Secwépemc’ulucw. We hope everyone’s weekend is filled with love, gratitude, and connection.

Frosts are a possibility this weekend. We are grateful for them too! Frosts mark the changing seasons, and some food plants, like apples, need a certain number of frost days to form buds to fruit the following year. And some crops like parsnips become sweeter. What are you grateful for this year? What are you looking forward to next year?

It’s the time of watching overnight temps. When the valley overnight temps are below 2 to 3 C, the likelihood of frost increases especially as elevation increases. Temperatures decrease by 1 C for every 100 m gain in elevation. Come enjoy fall’s bounty before the frosts hit.

The Mayoral All Candidates Forum is happening this Saturday Oct 3rd at the Kamloops Farmers’ Market from 10 AM to noon.

On Saturday, both mayoral and school trustee candidates for this election will have booths to connect with the public before and after the forum portion of the day.

The moderator for the mayoral forum is Dr. Wilson Bell. He teaches history and politics at Thompson Rivers University, where he also helped to establish and direct TRU’s first graduate program in arts, the MA in human rights and social justice. He is the author of numerous publications related to the Stalin-era Gulag. He has lived in Kamloops with his family since 2012.

Questions for candidates can be submitted in advance at: https://forms.gle/cuFmQHmyix73zgx99 or use the link in our Instagram bio. There will also be opportunities to submit questions during the forum, but obviously we have a better chance of getting to questions submitted early than later.
