I sit with dogs on mats by my feet. We dose horses with fresh pails of water before lights out. We trundle through barnyards in dark steps, arriving to this farm kitchen, lit with love.

Simply put, there is nothing here but life on the land, in fields of grass turning into swaths of snow, charging into dreams of spring’s birth. Clouds change, birds appear and disappear in our migration towards our completion of self. On every farm, everywhere in this world, there are folks that simply grow.

Spent some time in the past today, with grand kids at Lang Century Village. The focus was apples, but then there was horses and steam engines. There were spinning wheels and one room schools where our George read historic charts and asked a twenty year old volunteer about her teaching past. In his mind, he had met an understanding voice from the past, leading him into his future.

On farm in peace, at end of work day, we settle on broken chairs, on porches that could be better acclimatized. On days like these, we don’t need insulation or storm doors. We have good dogs racing about over and under our feet, resting on our laps, soaking in the love, caressed by the beauty of another good day.

We will be taking a break in olive production this week, as our supply chain has encountered a glitch! We hope to be back in gear after this weekend.

In rain on farm, caped under studio roof, drops fall down above our dry heads. Dogs sleep by our feet. Everyone of us has fallen into the bliss of the shelter of home.

Some days, particularly our Tuesdays off, we leave farm. We have deliveries and appointments. Today we slipped into antique hunting and for first time in decades, since I was a kid, I bought a girl a banana split. This moment was a young man’s dream, and this girl has been my best friend for 48 years. That banana split today, tasted like our first date.
