In rain on farm, caped under studio roof, drops fall down above our dry heads. Dogs sleep by our feet. Everyone of us has fallen into the bliss of the shelter of home.

Some days, particularly our Tuesdays off, we leave farm. We have deliveries and appointments. Today we slipped into antique hunting and for first time in decades, since I was a kid, I bought a girl a banana split. This moment was a young man’s dream, and this girl has been my best friend for 48 years. That banana split today, tasted like our first date.

There is fluff in breezes down on farm. There are golden finches scattering about farm. This month the last ones to nest, flit about, seeking the softest nesting down from thistles preserved from mowers intentionally shut down. We are on porch this evening nesting for our contribution to their new beginnings.

Today we dove into the water on farm. We cried for sunshine, but then our hearts blessed rain. On farm, from porch swings, we see nature lap up every drop. Queen Anne’s Lace bows to cloud’s descending grace. Thistles stand tall, strengthened by her shots, downed.
On farm today an alpaca stands in barn doorway, looking out, white like sun, wishing it could come out.

Back in our day at Riverdale Farm in Toronto, we bred and raised animals for show, not for food nor for profit, just for show. Yet, they all perished to keep the show fresh! This wore thin on us and perhaps our down fall there was, as one supervisor said “You can’t run a geriatric farm for the public”.
On our farm today we grow old, along side latter acquaintances of webbed feet, clovened hooves, flowing graying manes and paws. We limp and rest and slow down. We all work hard to enjoy this good life in fields of natural passion. We will all die here together, in peace at Quaker Oaks “geriatric” Farm. We did it!

Went to “The River Cone” In Minden today, bought some stuff to lap, with grand kids and daughter. We got some rain and thunder and lighting! We got some good times at The River Cone. Get local folks.

On farm this day, rain blessed us with a kind kiss. Judy and I welcomed it in garden, this morning. Yesterday’s setting light befriended us with new bales harvested, for barn, winter pantry. Today as rain caresses seas of our landscape, we breath unbridled by opinion, held by farm’s bright light. Tonight, in studio, things are the way they should be. Love folks!
