Nobody tells you that the hardest part of parenting is that you're never fully in the room. There's always something half-finished in the next one.
The sauna is the only place I've found where that stops.
You can't bring a phone in. You can't fold laundry in there or start dinner or reply to anything. The room removes every option except sitting still with your child, and after about five minutes you stop resenting that and start being grateful for it.
They settle fast in the heat. They lean in. They tell you small, unimportant things they wouldn't have thought to tell you at the kitchen table.
This is the oldest use of the room, older than any of the research on it. A place where a family is stuck together, warm, with nothing to do. I used to think we built these for recovery. I think we build them for this.
