Something unexpected happened because of this sign.
As I helped a customer load her new flooring into her vehicle, I learned something surprising.
As many of you know, Flooring Canada Kelowna currently has a promotion on Canadian-made flooring products that we carry, including laminate, hardwood, vinyl plank, and carpet, and we've been highlighting them on our roadside sign.
The customer I helped had purchased a Canadian-made laminate, and as we were loading it, I said, "Thanks for buying Canadian laminate. Did you choose it because it's made in Canada?"
Her answer surprised me.
Before I tell you what she said, here's what she bought.
She chose a high-quality waterproof laminate with the underpad attached. Laminate has one of the most scratch-resistant surfaces available, second only to ceramic tile in my opinion. It's tougher than most vinyl plank floors, has a locking system that's been proven for decades, and it's one of the easiest floors to install. It also handles minor imperfections in the subfloor better than many click vinyl products, which can help reduce floor prep costs.
So back to her answer.
She said, "No. I bought it because it's a gorgeous colour and it's a great price."
That really stuck with me.
Sometimes we assume people buy Canadian products because they're Canadian. In this case, she bought it because it was the product that offered the best combination of style and value for her home.
The fact that it's made in Canada was just a bonus.
And honestly, that's probably the best compliment a Canadian manufacturer can receive.
Made in Canada is a nice perk. Great style and great value are what confirmed the sale.
