Jennifer West (Ret’d USAF MSgt.) Owner – Wheels in Motion

Our hearts are heavy as we announce Jen’s passing. Peacefully at home with family, friends and fur babies, Jen lost her battle with an aggressive cancer on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at the age of 61. She fought bravely and with hope to the very end.
Beloved partner/spouse of Lisa Ostapyk. Cherished sister to Rhonda Clark, Scott (Jodie) Clark, Todd Clark and sister in-law of Teena Ostapyk and dear friend to many.
Jen will be interned in the fall at Bushnell National Cemetery in Florida with full Military honours. A Celebration of Life Oktoberfest style will be held in Ottawa in September.
In Jen’s memory, please enjoy a nice bike ride. She was hopeful that she too would be riding this spring.

***WHEELS IN MOTION IS PERMANENTLY CLOSED!***

Last week I received the unfathomable news that I have stage 4 cancer which has metastasized to my brain. Yesterday, not realizing it could get worse, I was told that my condition is very unique in that the doctors are unable to locate the source of the cancer, there is only a 50-50 chance they will, and I have less than a year to live. The doctor said I needed to decide how to spend my remaining days and to put my affairs in order.

I thank you all for your wonderful support during my 14 years in business. I’ve made friends and I enjoyed working on your bikes and chatting with you.

Due to a death in the family & the subsequent internment, the business closes for the season on August 31st.

The appointment calendar is full. No additional bikes will be accepted unless you need a flat tire fixed (email to coordinate a time).

Well, it’s unfortunate to say but it looks like someone thinks it’s ok to steal from me. Truly disappointing to think that someone would steal from such a small business. But, hey, I guess it happens. It just hadn’t happened to me in 13 years of business.

Due to this, I can no longer leave customers unattended in the shop while I’m taking care of others outside picking up and dropping off their bikes.
