As part of our new Community Educational program , our topic today is

Children and pets

So many times in rescue and Animal Shelters we get THAT call “ my dog has snapped at my child “ . Please remember as with humans animals also have boundaries, they are companion pets who have aches and pains just like we do . Especially during summer when it’s hot . Storms can cause so much stress on your pets as well . Please remember it’s so important to protect your pet from themselves. A quiet safe place away from chaos and noise can really stop a pets anxiety . A corner or crate where they can go and just decompress is so very soothing .

As we know animals age much quicker than humans. Please keep that in mind and if you see a change in your pets behavior please reach out to your vet . Just a quick check up can not only alleviate any fears but can also provide a wealth of knowledge .

Please teach responsible behavior , kindness and empathy to your children in regards to all animals . Your 100 lb Great Pyrenees is not your child’s personal pony!
