In 60 years of counting birds at Fundy National Park, participants counted 8083 Black-Capped Chickadees!👀📋
Chickadees are by far the most common bird we see and hear during our annual Christmas Bird Counts. Their lifespan is approximately 2 years, which means that we have probably counted 30 generations of chickadees since 1965! 🥚🐣

Junco vs. Chickadee: Spotting Our Feathered Friends in NB! 🐦🍂

Hey TimberHaven community!

As the leaves turn and the air gets crisp, it's the perfect time to talk about two of our favourite fall visitors: the junco and the chickadee. These little birds may seem similar at first glance, but they've got some unique traits that make them stand out.

Chickadees:
- Known for their black cap and bib with a white face.
- Often seen flitting among trees and feeders, these energetic birds love to snack on seeds and suet.
- Their distinct "chick-a-dee-dee-dee" call is a delightful sound to hear on any fall day.

Juncos:
- Sporting a more uniform gray color with a pale bill, juncos are often found foraging on the ground.
- These charming birds are part of the sparrow family and are sometimes called "snowbirds" because they arrive just as winter begins.

Next time you're out in your garden, keep an eye out for these beautiful birds. Whether they're hopping around on the ground or flitting between branches, they bring joy and life to the autumn landscape.
