Hi Friends, I've been dropping posts all day about an upcoming book reading at the shop. ( TheBendigCompany and Shall We Knit? )

I've been so excited about this upcoming event.

So let's get down to it and learn more about who this Gem of a human is that wrote Guineapigsdon'twearpant!

Chris Farias

Kingsville, who recognizes this name? They grew up right here in Kingsville alongside many of you!

Chris Paul (Rainbows) Farias (they/them) is a children’s author and illustrator dedicated to creating a world where everyone feels like they belong. They write 2SLGBTQIA+ picture books that speak directly to the hearts of the littlest readers and spark conversations that help build compassion and strengthen our empathy muscles. With Guinea Pigs Don’t Wear Pants, Chris has worked to expand representation in children’s books, especially for q***r, nonbinary, and trans identities. Representation of all identities is not only imperative in creating empathetic humans, but it is life-saving. They believe that 2SLGBTQIA+ children’s literature should be joyous, colourful, and accessible for everyone.(pulled from their website)

Chris creates, advocates, teaches, and encourages; they speak at events and are a strategist extraordinaire!
