Do you use primer? Under eye primer, eyelash primer and eyeshadow primer. :)
Why wear primer?
Eye primer is basically a grip layer between your skin and your makeup.
What Eye Primer Does
1. Helps Eyeshadow Stay Put
The skin on your eyelids produces oil. That oil can cause eyeshadow to fade, slide around, or disappear throughout the day.
Primer creates a barrier so the oil doesn't break down the shadow as quickly.
2. Prevents Creasing
If you've ever looked in the mirror and found all your eyeshadow gathered in the fold of your eyelid, that's creasing.
Primer helps the shadow stay smooth and evenly distributed instead of collecting in lines.
3. Makes Colors Pop
Many eye primers have a neutral tint that creates an even canvas.
Think of it like painting on a white wall versus a dark wall—the colors usually appear brighter and truer over primer.
4. Makes Blending Easier
Eyeshadow tends to glide and blend more smoothly over a good primer, which can make application easier.
What About Under the Eyes?
Under-eye primer has a different purpose.
It:
Smooths the skin's surface
Helps concealer apply more evenly
Reduces creasing
Helps makeup last longer
If your under-eye area is dry, a hydrating eye cream may be all you need. If concealer tends to crease or disappear by lunchtime, an under-eye primer can help.
What About Mascara Primer?
Eyelash primer is like a base coat for mascara.
It can:
Make lashes look thicker
Add length
Help mascara last longer
Sometimes condition lashes
You apply it first, let it set for a few seconds, then apply mascara on top.
