Thrift Shop

Thrift Shop The mandate of the Thrift Shop is to help the Winfield United Church congregation and the wider comm The Thrift Shop Ministry would not happen without them.

The mandate of the Thrift Shop is to help the Winfield United Church congregation and the wider community both financially and in other supportive ways. To meet this goal, we have approximately 3 dozen volunteers who share their time and talents very generously and to whom we owe a great deal of thanks. Thank you! One of the big benefits of working at the Thrift Shop is the social aspect and getti

ng to know members of the congregation and the community at a deeper level. We welcome new volunteers – talk to any Thrift Shop coordinator if you are interested. Coordinators: Jeannette Buchholz; Anne Nightingale; Joan Phipps; Dorothy Picotte; Karen Stead

These are some of the ways we recycle goods we cannot use. We also recycle cardboard, paper, plastics, metal, electronics, electrical appliances, paint, batteries, cotton for wipe, and fleece for swifers. The volunteers have (at a very conservative estimation) contributed 4,150 hours to the operation of the Thrift Shop. Not included in these hours is work that is taken home by various volunteers, such as: setting up the silent auction; cutting wipes and swifers; doing laundry; mending, sorting and displaying crafts, fabric, jewelry, toys, and cards; purchasing items for the Thrift Shop; doing the monthly roster; taking recyclables home and/or to the recycling depots, etc. All these duties are carried out cheerfully and save these items from going to the landfill. Extra duties also include the two yard sales we sponsor each year with the help of members from the congregation. We thank Jim Hannah for his daily visits, encouragement, and support.
