A very disappointing situation happened in our shop yesterday at 3:45pm
A customer who has been a regular in our store and is often seen in our community on the Oneway came in to purchase hair clips. While we were chatting at the counter about the challenges small businesses are facing and our upcoming closure, she picked up a Kate Spade bag and looked at it while I got her change. I assumed she had put it back, but after I couldn’t find it, I realized she had put the purse on and tucked it behind her back.
At the time, I truly hoped it was simply a mistake — that she had forgotten the bag was around her waist when she walked out.
However, security footage clearly shows the bag being put on and tucked behind her back before leaving the store without paying for it.
It has now been over 24 hours. If this had been an accident, we would have expected a call, message, or email to acknowledge the mistake and make things right.
Small businesses rely on trust and community support. Taking advantage of that trust is incredibly disheartening.
Please send an e-transfer for $100.79 to [email protected] or return to the store to pay for the bag by the end of the day on Tuesday, so this can be resolved respectfully. If this matter is not resolved, we will have no choice but to take further action to recover the item, and the community will be made aware that it was taken without payment.
