Yesterday, we unfortunately caught a teenage girl stealing from Village Antiques Mall. When approached, it was discovered that she had taken multiple items belonging to our vendors.
We want to take this opportunity to remind everyone of something important.
Village Antiques Mall isn't one big retail store. Under our roof are 60+ independent vendors, each running their own small business.
Behind every booth, showcase and price tag is a real person. Our vendors spend their own money sourcing pieces, hours hunting for treasures, and countless more hours cleaning, researching, pricing and bringing those items into the mall. For many, the income from their businesses helps support themselves and their families.
When you steal from an antique mall, you're not stealing from a faceless corporation. You're stealing directly from an individual small business.
We have zero tolerance for theft and are taking additional steps to strengthen our security measures throughout the mall to better protect our vendors and their merchandise.
Anyone caught stealing will be banned for life and shared.
We don't share this to overshadow the wonderful community we have. The overwhelming majority of people who walk through our doors are respectful, kind and genuinely excited to support local small businesses — and we appreciate you immensely. 🤎
So please, the next time you visit an antique mall, remember the people behind the price tags.
