🌸 Meet Julia

Floral Designer • Weekend Creative • Carnation Enthusiast

Julia has been part of the Blumz family since we opened in 2021—but she's been part of our family much longer! I've known her since Grade 2, when she became my daughter's best friend. Now she spends every Saturday creating beautiful bouquets and making our weekends brighter.

She recently graduated from the University of Windsor and is getting ready to continue her education in Dentistry. While she's chasing her next dream, we're lucky enough to have her every Saturday at Blumz.

✨ What she loves most about her job:
Expressing her creativity through flowers and designing arrangements that feel personal, meaningful, and unique.

🌸 Favourite flowers:
Light pink carnations and delphiniums.

🌿 Floral style:
Romantic, whimsical, garden-inspired designs with lots of texture and movement.

Harry Styles is almost always on the speakers when Julia is working.

😂 A little thing that makes Julia... Julia:
If you've ever noticed a bouquet with a few extra carnations, there's a pretty good chance Julia designed it! She absolutely loves carnations and would happily sneak them into almost every arrangement... if Dhyana didn't gently remind her that not everyone shares her passion for carnations! 🌸🤣

Brenda has been part of the Blumz family for the past couple of years, and her favourite part of the job is having the freedom to create beautiful floral designs while helping customers find the perfect gift for every occasion.

She has a special talent for listening to each customer's story and creating an arrangement that says exactly what words sometimes can't.

🌸 Favourite flower:
Peonies—soft, romantic, and always breathtaking.

🌿 Floral style:
Modern Romantic—elegant, timeless, and full of beautiful textures.

✨ Blumz superpower:
Helping customers choose the perfect gift and making sure every arrangement reflects the meaning behind the occasion.

☕ Fun fact:
She loves designing with fresh flowers... but you'll rarely find her gardening at home!

💐 Want your flowers to last longer? We have a few florist-approved secrets...

Your flowers work hard to make your home look beautiful. Here's how to return the favor:

💧 Fresh water is everything.
Change the water every 2-3 days. (Flowers don't like drinking yesterday's bath water.)

✂️ Give the stems a fresh trim.
Trim about ½ inch off the stems at an angle every few days before placing them back in fresh water.

🌸 Feed them!
If your bouquet came with flower food, add it to clean water after each water change. No flower food? Just fresh water is much better than leaving old water.

☀️ Keep them cool.
Flowers love cool temperatures. Keep them away from direct sunlight, heating vents, fireplaces, and ripening fruit.

❄️ Here's our favorite florist trick...
If you have room, tuck your arrangement into the fridge overnight! Think of it as putting your flowers to bed. A cool night's sleep can add days to their vase life.

🚫 Avoid drafts and heat.
Warm rooms, sunny windows, and vents will age your flowers much faster.

A little love goes a long way—and your blooms will thank you! 🌸

Snake plants have long been associated with protecting a home's energy, and many people like placing one near the front entrance to welcome good vibes and send negative energy packing. Whether you believe it or not... it certainly can't hurt. 😉

Why we love them:
🌿 One of the easiest houseplants to care for.
🌿 Helps filter indoor air pollutants.
🌿 Unlike most plants, it continues converting CO₂ into oxygen at night, making it a great bedroom plant.
🌿 Its tall, architectural leaves add a modern touch to any space—even those awkward empty corners.

💚 Snake Plant Care

☀️ Light: Bright, indirect light is ideal, but they're also happy in lower-light rooms.

💧 Water: Less is more! Water only when the soil is completely dry—typically every 2–4 weeks. When in doubt... don't water.

🪴 Soil: Loves a loose, well-draining cactus or succulent mix.

🌡️ Temperature: Thrives in normal household temperatures between 18°C–27°C (65°F–80°F).

✨ Feng Shui Fun Fact: Snake plants are believed to absorb negative energy and encourage a calm, positive atmosphere, which is why they're often placed near entryways.

🐾 Pet Parents: Snake plants are toxic if chewed by cats and dogs and may cause vomiting or stomach upset, so be sure to keep them out of curious paws' reach.
