AAC Works

AAC Works offers high-quality, locally created, fine art, and fine craft. We currently represent over 50 local artists. We are dedicated to providing local artists space to sell their work and the opportunity to connect with the Lethbridge community. Items are available in our AAC Works store located at 318 7 Street South or our website https://aacworks.ca. AAC Works is maintained and managed by the Allied Arts Council of Lethbridge

✨ New Artist Spotlight: Brianne Ogden of Noble Heart Beads ✨

We’re so excited to welcome Brianne to AAC Works!

Brianne Ogden of Noble Heart Beads is a Lethbridge-based Métis Michif artist who uses beadwork as a way to reconnect with her culture, and herself, through art. Born in British Columbia and raised in Manitoba, Brianne has developed a deep appreciation for the cultural and familial connections woven into the practice of beadwork, recognizing its importance in maintaining traditions and strengthening generational ties. While beadwork is currently at the heart of her practice, she is also passionate about learning more about traditional medicines and Indigenous knowledge, incorporating these teachings into her artistic journey. 🍃

Inspired by the vibrant floral beadwork of her Métis heritage, Brianne incorporates natural materials such as antler, quills, birchbark, wood, and tufted fur into her work. Looking ahead, she hopes to continue expanding her practice to include leatherwork, creating wearable pieces such as vests, mitts, and moccasins. 🏵

We currently have an incredible collection of Brianne’s beadwork in the shop, so be sure to stop by AAC Works and see them for yourself! 🥰

Raise your hand if you learned that gel printing is basically magic! 🙀

We had the BEST time on Saturday learning from our Featured Artist, Leila Armstrong, and we just wanted to give a big shout out to everyone who joined us! And, of course, a huge thank you to Leila for sharing her creative process and showing us a few of her gel printing magic tricks! 🪄

In case you missed it, Leila also dropped off an incredible new collection of cards that would make the perfect addition to any gift. 🥰

Leila’s work will be featured at AAC Works until the end of October, so there’s still time to stop by, explore the collection, and grab an IT card in time for spooky szn! 👻

Today, we’re shining a spotlight on this incredible cup by Featured Artist Leila Armstrong! We absolutely LOVE the sense of humour that comes through in Leila’s work - you may remember her wonderfully wild skunk hat that had us all talking. 🦨

Today, AAC Works acknowledges the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation by recognizing that we are located on Treaty 7 territory, the traditional territory of the Blackfoot People, and home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3.

We honour the Blackfoot people and their traditional ways of knowing and caring for this land, as well as the Indigenous and Métis people who have helped shape -and continue to strengthen - our community.

Although AAC Works is closed today, we are committed to supporting and representing Indigenous artists throughout the year. We invite you to take time today to learn, reflect, and consider the ways we can each contribute to the ongoing work of truth and reconciliation.

We invite you to join the Allied Arts Council of Lethbridge for our Community Jingle Dress Project - a collaborative art project bringing local artists and community members together to create a piece that reflects connection, culture, and community.

✨New Artist Spotlight: Lawrence Kopp ✨

We’re so excited to welcome Lawrence Kopp to AAC Works!

Lawrence Kopp is a Lethbridge-based woodworker creating functional, artisanal cutting and charcuterie boards, along with a variety of other handcrafted goods. Working with a range of wood species, each piece celebrates the wood’s natural grain, contrast, character, and unique imperfections.

And the smaller pieces don’t go to waste! Pieces left over from larger projects are carefully transformed into beautiful pieces like wooden earrings and coasters. Every item is shaped, sanded, and finished by hand, allowing the natural beauty and character of the wood to shine through.

After years of creating utilitarian pieces like cabinets and tables, retirement has given Lawrence the opportunity to approach woodworking from a more creative perspective. He loves combining different species of wood and embracing the natural “imperfections” that make each piece completely one-of-a-kind. 🪵

We currently have an incredible collection of Lawrence’s work in the shop, including wooden utensils, earrings, coasters, bookmarks, and gorgeous charcuterie boards. 🥄🌳
