🚨 Water Safety Week Reminder 🛶💙
This post from the RCMP is a great reminder that having the right safety gear isn't just a good idea—it's required. Before you head out on the water, make sure you're properly equipped to keep yourself and your family safe.
At High Level Canoes & Kayaks, we've got everything you need:
🦺 Transport Canada-approved PFDs, including the incredibly popular Mustang Minimalist Belt PFD for paddle boarders.
🛟 North Water 4 Bailer Safety Kits, complete with the required safety equipment for your kayak, canoe, or paddleboard.
🚣 Plus a full selection of life jackets for adults and kids.
Don't let a missing piece of gear cut your day on the water short—or put you at risk.
Stop by the store this Water Safety Week and let us help you get outfitted with the right equipment so you can paddle safely and confidently all season long.
🌊 Safety first. Adventure second. See you on the water!
Over the weekend, officers sent close to 200 paddle boarders back to shore who chose to hit the water without the required safety gear. That’s 200 people who could have faced fines (or worse, a life threatening emergency) because of required gear left behind that takes two minutes to grab before you leave the house.
We might sound like a broken record, but it cannot be said enough. Before you launch, you need:
🟠 A Canadian-approved PFD or life jacket (on your board with you, not just “in the truck”)
🟠 A sound-signaling device (a whistle works)
🟠 A buoyant heavy line at least 15m in length
🟠 A watertight flashlight if paddling in low light or nighttime
This isn’t us trying to ruin your lake day. Transport Canada puts these laws in place for your safety and protection. Sylvan Lake can turn on you fast — wind picks up, boards drift, and suddenly rescue crews are required to come get you. That’s no fun for anyone.
Gear up first, then go enjoy the water. 🌊
