🌱Day 28: Composting
🥬Food scraps, coffee grounds, egg shells, and even paper towels or egg cartons don’t belong in the landfill—they belong in the soil. Composting turns everyday kitchen waste into nutrient-rich goodness that helps plants thrive and reduces harmful methane emissions.
👩🏽🌾Whether you have a backyard bin, a countertop composter, or access to our CKL organics program, every small step makes a difference. Our household waste is WAY down since getting religious about composting. And you don’t have to be an epic gardener to use your compost; even hedges, bushes or your lawn can benefit from replenishing the soil. Maybe even share with a neighbour!
We have a counter top electric composter and a backyard bin. BUT, I have become a bit obsessed with this idea from to get our food scraps right into our garden beds this year. We’ll try it out and report back in the fall. ;) (I’m also super excited about the idea of “worm farming” for soil replenishment. Stay tuned for my adventures in this!).
✅Today’s challenge: Start a compost system that works for your space—or take one step closer to making the change. Get more serious about using your green bin. Dig a small hole in your backyard where food waste can be buried. Any movement is a good start! Because less waste isn’t about perfection—it’s about progress. 🌍 Already a compost guru?
