Shore Thing Liverpool NS Please see the about page for Tess's bio.

Tessa (Giffin) Adams opened Shore Thing Studio and Emporium in Liverpool, Nova Scotia in April 2019 after retiring from a long-term career of teaching in Halifax. With roots embedded as deep in the soil as the community itself, Tessa knew it was time to come home, to where her mother, Elaine McLeod, grew up in the first house built in Liverpool and her father, Fred Giffin, worked for Bowater Merse

y Paper Company. Once settled beside her beloved ocean, Tess turned her eye to creating an environment in which people could purchase handmade creations by the many talented artists in the area, learn how to create their own unique pieces themselves, and have a shop that provided the supplies to do it. She was thrilled to find the perfect location in the building that had housed the Advance newspaper, the very location that her mother’s career had begun. After retiring from his career in the blood lab at Queens General Hospital, Tessa’s husband, Mike Adams, joined her at the shop, and together, they have built Shore Thing into the vibrant hub of unique handmade art, classes and supplies that it is today. Growing from a core group of about 20 local artisans, it has grown into a collaboration of over 50 Nova Scotia artists and artisans with at least 80% from Queens County, whose efforts are proudly displayed for sale within the walls of the sprawling shop. True to Tessa’s vision, Shore Thing Studio and Emporium also continues to provide varied and popular instruction through classes, as well as providing art supplies to all.

🧚‍♀️✨ A Little Bit of Tooth Fairy Magic ✨🦷

There are some childhood moments that deserve just a little extra magic — and losing a tooth is certainly one of them. ❤️

Ashley Feindel has created these adorable crocheted Tooth Fairy Pillows, complete with a little pocket on the back where a child can tuck their tooth before bed… ready for the Tooth Fairy to make her overnight visit. 🧚‍♀️

I love that these are more than just something cute. They have the potential to become part of a family tradition — something brought out each time another tiny tooth is lost, accompanied by all that wonderful anticipation of what might appear by morning.

And really… could they be any sweeter? From the little crown and bow tie to that fabulous pink bow and ruffle, each one has its own personality. 💙🩷

Handmade with love by Ashley Feindel and available now at the Shop.

Because childhood is short — and whenever we can add a little more magic to it, I think we should. ✨🦷🧚‍♀️

✨ Please help us welcome a new artist to the Shop — Theresa McLaughlin! ✨

There is something wonderfully magical about Theresa’s work. Her pieces are filled with personality, imagination and the tiniest little details that make you stop, look closer…and smile. ❤️

From sweet woodland creatures and curious little mushrooms to ravens, owls, lighthouses and whimsical scenes tucked beneath glass, each piece feels as though it belongs to its own tiny story.

We especially love the way Theresa brings together nature, texture and character. Her sleepy little fox, that beautiful owl nestled into driftwood, the elegant bunny with her lace bow, and those wonderfully quirky creatures all have such individual personalities!

We are so pleased to welcome Theresa McLaughlin to our family of artists and to have her creations now on display at the Shop.

✨ One Last Sunday… for now! ✨

This Sunday will be our last Sunday open for a little while, before we take a break from Sunday hours and wait for the Christmas shopping season to begin. ❤️

So if Sundays are your favourite day to wander downtown, browse the Shop, discover something handmade, or pick up that piece you’ve had your eye on, this is your chance!

We’ll still be here during our regular weekday and Saturday hours, of course — we’re simply giving Sundays a rest until the holiday season arrives and things begin to sparkle again. 🎄✨

Thank you so much to everyone who has stopped in on Sundays this season. We truly appreciate every visit, every conversation, and every bit of support you give our local artists.

Come see us this Sunday for one last Sunday shop before Christmas shopping kicks in! 💕

✨ A little circle of magic… ✨

There’s something wonderfully mesmerizing about this hand-felted mandala by Penney Burton.

Layer upon layer of rich blues, purples, greens and warm glowing colour draw your eye inward, almost like a tiny portal — or a reminder to slow down, breathe, and come back to centre. 💙💜💚

Mandalas have long been associated with wholeness, balance and the beauty of things coming full circle, and Penney’s felted interpretation gives that symbolism such warmth and texture.

It’s one of those pieces you can look at again and again and notice something different each time.

Hand-felted by Penney Burton.

🐙 Octopus invasion at the Shop! 🐙

Apparently one octopus just wasn’t enough. 😂
Meet these two wonderfully quirky sea creatures, each made in a completely different way:
💚 The green fellow was hand-felted by Belinda Fisher, right down to those fabulous curled tentacles and colourful little details.
🧡 The orange beauty was crocheted by Ashley Feindel, with long, wonderfully dangly tentacles that make her impossible to walk past without smiling.
Same creature. Two artists. Two completely different interpretations — and both absolutely full of personality.

So now we have to ask…

Are you Team Green 💚 or Team Orange 🧡?

🍁 A Little Canadian Pride 🍁

This beautiful handcrafted pen by Patsy Pyke feels especially fitting right now.

With its bold red and white design and maple leaf proudly displayed, it’s a lovely little celebration of Canada — and an even better reminder of how fortunate we are to have talented makers creating beautiful things right here at home. ❤️

There’s something pretty special about choosing handmade, local and Canadian whenever we can.

And besides being beautiful, this one is practical too — a little piece of Canada you can carry with you every day. 🇨🇦

Handcrafted by Patsy Pyke.
