The Sankt Annen Sword is one of those rare medieval treasures that truly bridges past and present. Inspired by a 12th–13th century blade recovered from the waters of Denmark, this reproduction celebrates the craftsmanship and battlefield innovations of the High Middle Ages. The original, now preserved in the National Museum of Denmark, dates to around 1225–1275, a time when European knights were shifting toward blades that balanced cutting power with improved thrusting ability.

This recreation by Deepeeka captures that evolution beautifully. The blade follows the classic Type XII profile, complete with a controlled taper and shortened fuller that mirror the features of the medieval find. A bronze J-type pommel, an iron crossguard, and full-tang construction come together to create a piece rooted deeply in authenticity and European martial heritage. Paired with a historically inspired scabbard, it feels like something that could have been drawn straight from a knight’s belt during the Crusader era.

For collectors, history lovers, reenactors, or anyone fascinated by medieval design, the Sankt Annen Sword offers a tangible connection to the age of chivalry, feudal warfare, and knightly culture. Explore it here: www.reliks.com/spotlight/

British Light Cavalry Sabre – A Blade of Transition and Triumph

From the thundering charges of the Napoleonic Wars to the disciplined ranks of the post-war British Army, the Light Cavalry sabre underwent an evolution that mirrored the changing face of warfare. The famous 1796 Pattern Light Cavalry Sabre, designed by Captain John Gaspard Le Marchant, carved its legacy in battles such as the Peninsular War and the Battle of Waterloo. With its wide, hatchet-shaped tip, it excelled at devastating cuts, but lacked the finesse for precision thrusting.

By 1821, a new design emerged—sleeker, with a graceful curve and spear point that gave cavalrymen improved reach and versatility in both cut and thrust. Its three-bar hilt offered greater hand protection than the earlier stirrup guard, a welcome improvement for soldiers who lived and fought from the saddle.

A Modern Reproduction for History Enthusiasts
Deepeeka’s British Light Cavalry Sword takes inspiration from this post-Napoleonic refinement, blending historical authenticity with robust construction. Forged from C60 high-carbon steel and tempered for strength, it features a wire-wrapped wooden grip and comes with a full steel scabbard. Whether carried in historical reenactments, studied in martial practice, or displayed as a centerpiece, it embodies the balance of beauty and battlefield practicality that defined the cavalry sabre.

The Signature Series Arbedo Sword is a reimagined classic from Windlass, upgraded with historical detail and craftsmanship. With its improved distal taper, wooden-core leather scabbard, and a hand-wrapped “wet-grip” finish, this piece feels alive in the hand—light, balanced, and ready to perform.

The name Arbedo comes from the 1422 battle in Switzerland, where Milanese cavalry clashed with Swiss pikemen in a bloody but inconclusive fight. This type XVIIIa war sword would have been right at home in that moment of history, equally suited for the cut and the thrust.

When the Spear Snapped, the Sword Spoke
The Greek Hoplite was no ordinary soldier. Trained, disciplined, and fiercely loyal to their polis, these warriors stood shield-to-shield in tight phalanxes-unyielding walls of bronze and resolve. But when the spear shattered in the chaos of battle, it was the sword that finished the fight.
This Classic Hoplite Sword is inspired by archaeological finds and ancient artwork, featuring the distinctive leaf-shaped blade that was prized throughout the ancient world for its cutting power and balance. The steel guard and pommel offer strength and durability, while the wood-and-leather grip ensures a solid hold for close-quarters combat.
Crafted by Windlass Steelcrafts, this piece is hand forged from high carbon steel, making it a true battle-ready reproduction. Comes with a leather-wrapped wooden scabbard for display or costuming.
⚔️ A piece of history reborn for collectors, reenactors, and Hellenic history buffs alike.
