I was eyeing up engraving for a few years before I took the leap. I knew I would love it because I have always enjoyed the kind of work that other people find tedious or monotonous. For me, it is meditative 🧘 and very fulfilling. ☺️

I definitely jumped the gun and used my graver before I started reading this book 🙈, but I'm glad I did because I was exactly right. I absolutely love it! I couldn't wait to get back to my bench to engrave something else, but I tempered my excitement and focused on educating myself. 📕

I would love to eventually attend some in-person training, but for now, I'm kicking it solo and learning what I can from those who came before me.

Shout out to the online engraving community that has been so kind and helpful along the way. Except for that grumpy guy who's always in the comments, no shout out for you 😂. You need a nap, sir.

Sometimes you just need to do the thing.

A few months ago I had ordered my ball vise, but it was weeks away from being delivered. I was really itching to start practicing with my graver, so I decided to go for it. I sketched out a little flower, pinned my scrap against my bench with my hand, and started cutting. No magnification, no specialty tools. Just a gal and her graver, a desire to learn, and a whole lot of patience.

This little flower marks the beginning of my engraving journey. I am so excited to share my growth with you over the years.
