Today was a great reminder of the power of team work.
For the last year, I have chosen to work independently after putting in many years of running traditional retail shop models and employing multiple people.
My reasoning behind this was part character building and maybe part penance? I felt like I had something I needed to prove to myself and was trying to earn my own respect by doing...literally, everything. But also, no one will ever work for your business the way you do.
There was a time when local florists didn't want to share the same sandbox, but those days have passed.
This year I have had the privilege of working with other shops and independent designers in the area, and it now feels like we've built a budding support system.
It takes a village, and there are times when you need those extra hands. We are only as good as the sum of our parts.
I rest my head tonight, thankful for my body that puts up my s**t but also, the people that come along for the ride. And support when you need it.
