Our first stop around the world 🌏 Phalaenopsis aka Moth Orchids

Native to tropical & subtropical Asia and northeastern Australia, these orchids naturally grow in warm, humid evergreen rainforests. They’re epiphytes meaning they soak up bright, indirect light while clinging to trees (not soil!).

The secret to their care at home:
🌡️ Warm temps
💧 Moisture + humidity
🌤️ Bright, indirect light
🌱 Chunky mixes like orchid bark & sphagnum moss

They may have a reputation for being “fussy,” but once you understand where they come from, they’re surprisingly easy to keep happy! And bonus: they’re pet-friendly too 🐾

Groundhog Day verdict: early spring 🙌🏻 at least according to Wiarton W***y and we're choosing to believe him! 🌱 In our greenhouse it already feels like it. Seedlings are sprouting, plants are waking up, and spring planting is quietly underway.

It’s a hopeful little escape, a breath of fresh air, and a reminder that growing season is closer than it feels. 😁 Come soak up the signs of spring with us!

Our first selection of seeds has arrived in the greenhouse 🙌🏻 and it’s the perfect time to start thinking about this year’s gardens!

Whether you’re imagining colourful blooms or homegrown veggies, a little planning now sets your seeds (and you!) up for success. 🌱 We’ve also got all the seeding supplies you need, from coco coir pots and trays to domes and more, to help those tiny seeds germinate and grow.

It’s a family thing.

At Heeman’s, we’re proud to be the go-to destination for all things gardening and (of course) strawberries for our community. We’ve been around for a while, 55 years to be specific, and over that time we’ve changed and grown a lot as a family and as a business, but we’ve always remained committed to three things, quality produce and plants, great customer service and fair prices.

Located on the east side of London, ON, Heeman's is a ‘destination’ garden centre. What does that mean? Well, that there is something for everyone in the family. Not only are we a plant-lovers paradise and a local food fan’s dream, we also boast the only coffee & ice cream sundae bar ~ our Berry Beanery ~ in a greenhouse in the city. While you’re enjoying a treat you can visit the dock (with picnic table seating) out back by our goldfish pond. If that’s not enough for ya, we also have our display hill, complete with walk paths, gardens, waterfalls and water features that are loaded with frogs and tadpoles. Be sure to check out one of several awesome seasonal events or our always popular winter workshops. See, something for everyone ;)
