J'ai des amis qui eu une situation de feu dans leurs maison et ils ont tout perdu. Nous sommes a la recherche de linge pour fillette de 3 ans, 4 ans et 10 ans.

Im glad I wasn't there while the flames were bursting out of my Ma's house, well,
It was actually my mothers house but for me it will always be Ma's. I arrived shortly after the blaze was extinguised. Just a shell of the house was left, black holes where the windows once were.
If you knew my Ma (Edith) you knew her door was always open to everyone, their kids and their friends. As the excavator ripped through the house like it were matchsticks, the very last thing standing was the doorway, the one thing that I said was always open to everyone. The door itself had been off prior to the fire, leaving an opening to the house.
Ma's open door was the very last thing to be torn down. It was surreal and maybe even poetic. it also broke my heart that I will never walk through that door again.
My mother lost her house, my uncle lost his place of residence, we and many others lost our childhood home and hangout.
On the flipside,
what we did not lose though, was our family. We were extremely forunate to not have lost any life in that terrible fire. All got out in time including the animals!
While it is never nice to lose your house in a tragic fire, we are grateful that we didn't lose anyone of them.
I want to thank all the emergency services on behalf of the whole family: Kahnawake Fire Brigade & the Kahnawake Peacekeepers, Kateri Food basket, and the Legion Branch 219.
Also want to send a huge Nia:wen kowa to all who donated clothing, food, and money.
Kahnawake never falls short to support our own during difficult times. ❤️
