MerryMaker

MerryMaker Merry Maker is the founder & host of the original Merry Maker Market started in 2021 in Hammonds Plains, now in Sackville, Nova Scotia since 2022.

Merry Maker is proud to support local artists & charities to build a community to be proud of. I am a local crafter, cook, and artistic spirit. I love the creative process and bringing my ideas to life! A few years ago I wanted a way to showcase my work, and that of the talented crafters, makers, and bakers in the community - so I started the Merry Maker Market. What started as just a single Holid

ay market, has expanded in size AND we are now doing 2 markets a year. Thank you for the support of the community. You're helping me help others.

Make sure you check out this upcoming yard sale! Lots of treasures to be found.

Merry Makers I've recently joined a great organization here in my community called Kinettes. It's another way for me to give back and participate in making my community even more wonderful. I'll still be your fabulous host of the Merry Maker Holiday Market.... but on that note, the Kinettes are hosting a Spring Market in support of The Den Youth Centre on May 23, 2026 from 9am-3pm, and we're looking for a few more vendors... so if you're interested in participating, please fill out this form: https://forms.gle/jdckaq6QVy8DGK4LA

Calling all knitters and crocheters! If you can help with a blanket or two I’m sure it would be appreciated!!

Nova Scotians who quilt, knit or crochet, we need your help! 🧶

Thank you to the many generous Nova Scotians who quilt, knit or crochet blankets for patients receiving treatment at the QEII Cancer Centre and in our Palliative Care unit. We are seeking blankets for patients in:

Cancer Care – lap-sized blankets
Palliative Care – single-bed size blankets

The blankets will be handed out by volunteers to the patients in palliative care, and in the numerous cancer centre waiting rooms while they wait for treatment. A lap-sized blanket, or “lapghan”, is made to fit over a wheelchair or someone in a sitting position. Sizes typically range from 32” to 48” (81-122 cm) wide by 35” to 40” (89-102 cm) in length. There are many patterns to choose from online. A single-bed size blanket is around 65” wide by 90” in length (165 x 228 cm).

If you would like to quilt, knit or crochet a lapghan or blanket for our cancer centre and palliative care patients, please bring your donations to our volunteer coordinator of Cancer Care and Palliative Care, Erin Fair, in Volunteer Services, Room 24, main floor of the Centennial Building, any time from Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m, or to Valley Regional Hospital in Kentville, Chipman Building, Room 622, any time from Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

If no one is there when you arrive, or if you can only deliver after these hours, donations can be left outside the office door and will be collected the following business day.

🙌 NEW 🙌 The QEII Foundation will give an in-kind tax donation receipt for a minimum of $50 of yarn, wool, or fabric purchased to make these lap blankets. Receipts will be issued for the cost of materials, less any taxes paid. You will just need to give your receipts and the following information, along with your donation:
• A receipt from place of purchase with the cost of materials.
• Your name and mailing address.

Thank you to the quilting, knitting and crochet community for all your amazing support! 🥰

Don’t forget! I will post publicly about table availability and how to submit a request once we open up table availability in the Spring. I will NOT talk about availability of tables in the comments on posts.

NOTE: Social media promotion of events like this attract scammers posing as hosts and posting in the comments of promotional posts for the markets. Karen Boyd, [email protected], is the ONLY host of the Merry Maker Market and will NOT request money or confirm table availability via social media. Be careful, pay attention to who you're communicating with.

I am still so overwhelmed by the support we had for the 6th Merry Maker Market on Nov 22nd. You supported local makers and helped us raise $700 for Freedom Kitchen & Closet! Plus, food donations!!

Don’t forget, you can support local makers year round by following their social media and shopping with them at other markets.

Freedom Kitchen welcomes donations whenever you’re able, and have special seasonal needs they post about too.

We can’t wait to welcome you back to the market next year!

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!
