Sadly there were only 2 stops at fabric stores, and they were too small to fit us all. I made no purchases, using great restraint to hold off for the many more shops to come in other towns 😬

Paris day 2. Sunrise on the Louvre. Walking tour inside. Incredible art. What the Mona Lisa sees. The smaller than expected Mona Lisa. A haberdashery and textile tour. EXQUISITE hand embroidery. It’s hot and sunny here. And my feet hurt. Our actual tour starts to
morrow. Yesterday and today’s tours were pre-tour tours.
I may have purchased several meters of incredible beaded fringe. Coming soon to a bag near you 😇

So I made new thing!! A quilt-as-you-go patchwork jacket using a cut up oversized sweatshirt for the pattern pieces!!! Way back when I signed up for the European textile tour, I said “I’m going to make a quilted jacket for the trip”. And then I waited till 3 days before the trip to start it 🙃. There were some rough patches and I almost gave up, but Catherine Waterer came and gave me some guidance and a little encouragement and I managed to make it wearable 🥳. I almost had a zipper sewn in, until I realized this wasn’t a tote bag, and I had to be able to open the zipper up completely, or else pull it over my head to take it off and on 🤦🏼‍♀️. I don’t have the hardware for separating zippers 😆. So it’ll flap open in the wind for now. Yahoo yeehaw 🤠
And don’t get any ideas…I will NOT be taking any orders for patchwork jackets!!! 😝

One final make before I’m off next week on an exciting Textile Tour with a group with Karen Brown of Karen Brown ✳️ Modern Quilter. We’ll be going through France and Belgium, stopping at fabric stores, textile museums, haberdasheries and quilt shows!! 😍 To say I’m excited doesn’t come close 😱!!!

This is my second go at The Cora Bag by Svetlana Skumanicova. It has extra foam padding so would work great for a laptop bag, up to about 14”. Full zip closure, a zip and 2 slip pockets and glasses holder inside. But the real star of this show is the beautiful Medieval Dragonfly fabric designed by Nickleen Mosher (sold via Spoonflower | wallpaper, fabric + home decor). I used natural cork with gold fleck from Sheri Ferraro for the bottom accent and handles, with yummy acorn yarn-dyed Essex Linen from Emmaline Bags - Janelle MacKay.

Friday Sep 4 will be my last market until October. We have another sunny Friday forecasted so hope to see you there!! 😎💃🏼

Adjustable shoulder strap, with an all cork exterior and cotton or linen lining. These go fast, FYI. Come say hello Masset Market Friday 11-2. 🙋🏼‍♀️

Apologies in advance to the octopus lovers. And the turquoise and orange lovers. And the long shoulder strap tote bag with lots of organization inside lovers.

I always come back to this classic tote bag, the Ashford Bag by Svetlana Skumanicova . It’s a simple design, easily customizable, and always looks good. Cotton twill on the top and a cork base. I altered it slightly by sewing the handles into the top, and added lots of organization inside. There are 2 slip pockets, a water bottle holder, glasses/sunglasses holder and a clasp key holder. A full zipper closure across the top secures everything inside, and it opens up WIDE! Also note the rainbow variegated heavy duty thread used for topstitching 🤩.

She’ll be on my table Masset Market this Friday Aug. 21, 11-2. Along with some restocks of seashell bags and cork coin zip pouches. Come and say hi🙋🏼‍♀️
