Aurifil thread restock! Want to know my top favourites? #2325 and #2326 (pictured in the last picture.). You should always sew with a darker thread and these 2 blend beautifully with anything! Grays are also popular but be careful! They tend to shine white and that sometimes shows in seams!
I tell customers that for sewing rag quilts or very simple blocks together you can sometimes get away with any thread BUT, if you want precise piecing and crisp pressing you need a fine cotton. Remember, the “thicker “ your thread strand the more bulk you add to your seams so if you wonder why your blocks are a bit smaller than they should be despite precise 1/4” seams; your thread may be the culprit.

This is the most stunning quilt I have ever had the pleasure to work on! Some of the blocks have super tiny pieces and she did a perfect job matching up all the points! Apparently this was a Facebook challenge quilt requiring a block a day! She nailed it; it is exquisite!

Hope all of you are having a fabulous summer! Just wanting to give you a bit of information on what is happening in my world. This week we are doing a major repair on our roof. We have 2 valleys (for those of you that understand “roofing vernacular!”) that were installed incorrectly so we have been fighting with leaks and ice damning for many years. We are fixing and reroofing which means that I am helping and cooking for a crew. The quilt store in Meadow Lake will NOT be open this week on July 15th. Hope you all have a great rest of your summer and make sure and do some fun things!!!

A super fun quilt I get to do for a customer! I love the blues aquas and purples she used! Take note of the awesome backing she choose (top of the picture). This is a new 108” wide cotton backing I have in my store. $26/m. It comes in 3 different colorways and this one was perfect for her quilt! Bring your winter projects in (or ship to me as many customers do!). Remember, my longarm price is only 1 1/4 cents per square inch. For example: a quilt measuring 50” x 50” costs you only $31.50 to get me to quilt it!

So much fun working on this bright colorful quilt! I am using a bright variegated thread too, it just worked for this quilt. This customer also choose a bright colorful cuddle that is new in my shop. The cuddle is by Shannon Fabrics. So many new fun quilts are coming in this New Year for me to work on!

Just a heads up. I am not traveling tomorrow. Meadow Lake has a freezing rain warning and friends have already warned me that the roads are terrible. Plus it is now snowing on top of that. Everyone stay safe and don’t travel unless you have to!

Just letting everyone know that I will not be in the store tomorrow. It is raining and we have road construction on about 20 km. It is 3:30am in the morning and we just went out to see if we could get through and we turned back and Rog is a very experienced truck driver! So sorry if this inconveniences anyone!
