BEFORE THE BINS SUMMARY 💚

We encourage the community to "Think Outside the Big Box Stores" and "Before the Bins". 📦

If it "hurts to toss", we will take it! If we don't find a use for it, we find someone else who will. There's no "list" because the limit does not exist! Sometimes inspiration comes from... interesting pieces. 🤔

In 2025, the Community of Grand Lake collectively saved:

💚 863 Glass Jars didn't go into the Bins 🫙
💚 We UpCYRcled 308 pieces ⤴️
💚 The Community utilized 184 pieces instead of purchasing new 👥

Another Fun Fact? We were on hiatus last year while rebranding... so these numbers ONLY reflect what the power of "word of mouth" is in our community! 🤝

This was meant to be shared last year... (CYR what we did there 👀) but we were ALL sick with something different over the break, so thank y'all for your patience! It's been really exciting to watch the various ways members in our community have been collaborating to reduce waste and reuse different items for different projects! 🥲

We are currently 100% SOLD OUT 💚 But we will be back soon with NEW products to browse!

What a week! 💚

Thank you SO much for everyone's support so far. We made the decision last week to donate all sales to Minto's Telethon, and we will do the same this week for Chipman's upcoming Telethon next Sunday 🎄

BEFORE THE BINS 💚

We accept a wide variety of items, clean them, sort them, and then store them. Whatever doesn't personally inspire us for our own projects, is then given away for FREE to like-minded people for their own uses.

Thanks to Lindsay just dropping these items off, we are now up to 1,032 glass items (this calendar year) from being tossed in a bin after their initial use!

We don't limit ourselves to a list of what we accept, as we have learned that inspiration can sometimes come from something unexpected.

Please send us a message if you'd like us to find another purpose for something before tossing. You can also reach out to us directly if you're curious if we have any items that would be useful for your own projects, instead of purchasing new. We encourage everyone to Think Outside of the Big Box Stores with this initiative! ✌️

A PERSONAL PROJECT 💚

Most of our projects start out as something that Alicia would use personally. This reduces excess product production, and our goal is always to make something out of what we already have around the house.

Here you can see our newest addition to own our Halloween Décor. Alicia received a handful of these 5 gallon glass bottles, painted, sealed, and then added a metal lid from a different jar on hand. She purchased 2 sets of LED multi-coloured lights that she even assembled to resemble a dried stem within the jar!
