Vintage AutoSound

Vintage AutoSound We add FM, bluetooth, in the original radio in classic cars. Repair 8-tracks. Supply Speakers How do we do it? We can also improve the sound quality.

We work on original radios from your Vintage Car or Hot-Rod (1930's to early 80's) and internally modify them to improve the functionality without changing the appearance of the radio (or affecting your BC collector plates). We add small boards/ chips that connect to the tuning section of your radio. These allows for your AM radio to receive FM stations (in addition to AM). Add Bluetooth & USB. Pr

ovide an auxiliary input (to plug into a music source such as your phone). Some versions contain a graphic equalizer and other modern functions. None of this work alters the look and feel of your radio. It fits right back in the dash as original. We do some limited repairs to radios, but generally recommend upgrading the internals. All of these radios are over 50 years old. Original parts fail. It can feel like a never ending story with parts failing years apart, costing much more over time than "converting" the radio. Also have you noticed it's getting harder and harder to find old techs that understand tube and early transistor radios? Over the last decade we have lost many of the these old repair techs to.... well old age. To aid in restoring your car's sound system, we also offer a full line of replacement speakers that match the shape and size of your original speakers, but with better sound clarity. We repair 8-track players as well as the 8-track cartridges. We carry a small stock of 8-tracks for purchase, all rebuilt to ensure hours of trouble free music listening. So talk to us about what you would like. We love to chat!

All are welcome, I just need to know so I have enough seating and refreshments.

Edit: Steelhead Hall has requested no stiletto heels to be worn, as they damage the wood floors. Feel free to dress casual.

Wow... two boxes have come in from different people with NO CONTACT info. One person called when he was notified it was received by the courier, so I was able to get relevant information. But the other.....

It was dropped off at a UPS Store in Brandon Manitoba so we only have that address and phone number, not the person who owns the radio.

We make every effort through google searches etc... trying to find contact info, but at some point we have to just put the radio on the shelf and wait for someone to inquire about it.

We can't start any work because we don't know if the owner wants it repaired or converted. Also once the work is done, we have no way of contacting you.

So even if you speak to either Dom or Diana.... please include some way of contacting you (and ideally what you want done). We talk to a lot of people over the week and have no idea when a radio just shows up days or weeks later, who it belongs to & the specifics of a conversation had sometimes months earlier.

With great sadness I would like to inform you that my husband Larry Wood passed away October 3rd. 2025 after being ill for most of 2025, and hospitalized for the last two weeks. He died of multiple organ failure.

Our technician, Dominic Van Vliet has been working for us for several years and has been doing nearly all the work in the shop over the last few years as my husband's health declined.

Dominic will be taking over the business to keep Larry's legacy and Vintage AutoSound alive. I, his wife Diana, will slowly be stepping away from the business as Dom learns all aspects of running the business. I will remain the the main contact person for the time being for the page & e-mail inquires.

We will be at this show THIS WEEKEND

A hot rod swap meet is coming to the Cloverdale Fairgrounds at the end of May.
Hosted by the British Columbia Hot Rod Association (BCHRA), the inaugural event will be held in the Agriplex.
“People can expect a very lively automotive and vintage-themed swap meet,” said Glenn “Bubba” Dalton, secretary of the BCHRA and head organizer for the event. “We will have over 150 vendors between the indoor and outdoor areas selling items collected over the years that buyers will definitely find interesting.”

Bubba said whether people are looking for parts for a car project they are working on, or if they are just looking for interesting and unique items to hang up on a wall in their garage, they will find it at the swap meet.

He added the West Coast Swap Meet will be an inaugural event, with annual meets to follow.
Bubba noted this new meet will be the fourth iteration of automotive swap meets held in the Lower Mainland for more than 35 years.
“The (West Coast) swap meet … is, in a way, replacing the Coastal Swap Meet that originated in Coquitlam and took place at the Cloverdale Fairgrounds from 1990-2006 before moving out to Tradex in Abbotsford until the last one in 2024,” explained Bubba. “It folded due to many factors, including costs and lack of participation.”

He said after much discussion, the BCHRA settled on keeping the swap meet going and came up with the idea to return to Cloverdale after a nearly three-decade absence. He said it was win-win as the Agriplex lends itself well to a swap-meet style event and the BCHRA has deep connections with Cloverdale.
“The BCHRA has a rich history of supporting events in Cloverdale,” Bubba added. “We participate every year in the rodeo and Santa parades and host our annual ‘Hot Rod Saturday Car and Truck Show’ at Elements Casino.”
Tickets to get in are $12 each. Parking is by donation (suggested $5) with all proceeds going to the Surrey Firefighters Charitable Society.
The West Coast Swap Meet will run from 1 - 9 p.m. on May 30 (Friday) and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on May 31 (Saturday). There will also be food trucks on site.

As of March 4th Canada has put a 25% tariff on a large number of goods entering Canada from the US (see list). This mostly includes foods, booze, clothing, furnishings tools etc...

In the past, agents let goods valued at less that $100 or $200 be waved through. Not anymore. You will now be sent inside to the cashier to pay a 25% tariff, duty and taxes.

If a tariff on auto parts goes in in April, our costs for boards, speakers, kickpanels, vintage radios etc... will also go up by 25%.

So if you're thinking of upgrading your sound system, or adding features to your radio, this is the time to do it.

Effective March 4, 2025, the Government of Canada is imposing 25 per cent tariffs on $30 billion in goods imported from the United States (U.S.).
