🧡 PSA:A LITTLE NOTE FROM TAMARACK ATLANTIC 🧡
Fall is once again upon us and we wanted to once again touch base on something we encounter yearly.
We get asked this every year:
“Are you making Truth and Reconciliation shirts?”
And once again, our answer is respectfully no.
We also get asked if we can recreate shirts and designs that are already out there. We truly appreciate that you think of Tamarack Atlantic, trust us with your business, and want to support our little brand. That means more to us than you know. ❤️
But this is one type of order we will always politely decline.
Tamarack Atlantic has always revolved around storytelling. Our designs are rooted in memories, places, people, home, and the little stories that make us who we are.
🌟 But this story is not ours to tell . 🌟
Truth and Reconciliation is about remembering and honouring Residential School Survivors, the children who never returned home, their families and communities, and recognizing the lasting impacts of the residential school system. September 30 is also Orange Shirt Day an Indigenous-led grassroots initiative built around the message that Every Child Matters.
For us, that means making space for Indigenous people and communities to tell their own stories, share their own experiences, create their own artwork, and lead the conversation.
We believe that when you’re looking for a shirt or merchandise to recognize this day, supporting Indigenous artists, creators, businesses and organizations is a meaningful way to show that support. For this reason we politely ask that any orders of this nature is directed to Indigenous and locally owned businesses. Not us, not walmart and not giant tiger.
We can listen.
We can learn.
We can support.
But we don’t need to put our name on someone else’s story and we won't.
So, respectfully, we will continue to leave these orders to Indigenous creators and businesses. Not because we don’t care But because we care enough to know when something isn’t ours to claim or market. We prefer to promote awareness and support those affected directly and to educate ourselves so that our future generations are better informed.
Thank you for understanding, and thank you for continuing to trust Tamarack Atlantic with the stories that are ours to tell. 🧡 We will be seeking local artists to create our orange shirts and we encourage you all to do the same!
