Tourmalines and tektites. Both found in the Himalayas. One found deep in the ground and showing a point at either end. The other is flattened due to meteorite activity when the ground was flattened and melted on impact. Both are said to be good grounding and protection crystals.

Here is an Ethiopian opal. It’s known as a ´precious ´ opal as you can see the rainbow colours which is known as ´play of colour’. Common opals do not have this play of colour’. Opals are one of the October birthstones and much loved despite them being fragile.

Here is an unpolished labradorite crystal showing all the rainbow colours known as labradoresence. We wet the stone to see it better to know if it was worth cutting into a cabochon. There is a legend in Canada that an Inuit warrior came across a cliff of labradorite and struck it with his sword freeing the rainbow colours to form the Northern lights. Some remained trapped in the rocks. Labradorite is part of the feldspar family. Who else likes labradorite?

50 million year old Turritella Agates! Find the spiral shells which are from the extinct freshwater snail known as Elimia Tenera. These snails which lived in sub tropical lakes died and floated down to the bottom where they weee covered with sediment and rich silica ground water which then fossilised into chalcedony quartz keeping the shell form. Each is unique. They were around at the same time as the dinausaurs.
