This week's blog post is House & Garden's September 1992 feature of designer Todd Oldham's eclectically-decorated apartment. Oldham was so inspired by the thrift store paintings and flea market furniture that he named that year's collection Interiors, and borrowed for it liberally from his decor.

This week's blog post is a peak at the prêt-à-porter fashion from top French designers' S/S '86 collections. There's a clear emphasis on the most iconically-80s feature: the shoulders! See "les femmes retrouvées" as envisioned by Alaïa, Mugler, Kenzo, and more:

This week's blog post is Modain's tribute to "the man who invented Prêt-à-Couture." Claude Montana had a meteoric rise in fashion in the 1980s, going from making papier-màché jewelry from baked toilet paper and rhinestones, to specializing in structured leather. His career culminated in designing award-winning haute couture for Lanvin in the early 1990s. However, following personal tragedy and professional missteps, his fashion house folded in 1997 and he withdrew from the public eye. Today, he remains underappreciated by all but the most devoted to vintage fashion.
Revisit his heyday on our website, with scans from his runway shows for Lanvin (as seen on Yasmeen Ghauri, above) and his own label.
