TARIFFS!🔔
We want to update you on some big changes happening in our industry. Recently, the U.S. government introduced new tariffs, and in response, Canada has added a 25% tariff on some U.S. products—including collectible card games like Pokémon. While these tariffs were temporarily put on hold for a month, Canada has still decided to move forward with additional tariffs.
What Does This Mean?
• Collectible card games now have an extra 25% import tax.
• The Canadian dollar is also weaker, making imported products even more expensive.
• Some games, like Sorcery & Grand Archive, won’t be affected since they’re printed in other countries.
How Will This Affect Prices?
Right now, we’re doing everything we can to limit price increases, but it’s likely that some products will become more expensive soon. We don’t have exact details yet, but retailers should be prepared for possible price adjustments.
Tariffs on U.S. Imports from China
On top of this, the U.S. has added a 20% tariff on products made in China. This makes things even tougher for Canadian buyers because these costs get passed along to us. Here are some of the changes:
• Board and card games: Now taxed at 20% (previously 0%)
• Playmats: Tax increased from 25% to 45%
• Plastic card sleeves & game boxes: Now taxed at 32.8% (previously 12.8%)
