I did one hell of a rework on this thing. It’s a Lake Placid Blue Squire Stratocaster that I did:
•Replaced the neck with a 90’s MIM maple/rosewood neck, with the original holes being plugged
•Replaced the tuners for locking HipShot Griplock tuners
•Blocked the tremolo bridge with a block of cherry wood to increase sustain and “remove” tremolo
•Installed a Seymour Duncan High Voltage humbucker
•A complete setup with fresh Ernie Ball Power Slinky 11-48 strings
•Cleaned and polished everything

It turned out amazingly well and plays like a dream (and sounds amazing too. Surprisingly versatile). Thanks !

Did a complete rewire, with 2 push/push pots; one for 4th position lock and one to coil split the stacked bridge pickup. Also did the finish on the headstock, along with the water slide.

I wasn’t too pleased with the water slide since I had applied 2 coats of gloss and 1 coat of satin before…the satin was my mistake as it didn’t allow the decal to sit flat on the head. I didn’t charge the customer for the headstock work since it didn’t meet my standards but I at least got to learn and I offered to re-do it for no charge in the future, if he ever wanted to fix it.

Either way, it’s a really nice player and sounds 🤌🤌. First time working on a Gotoh truss rod system too; it eliminates the need to remove the neck for heel adjustments. Really slick!

Fun little project that was on the bench from Gubany at The Flamingos Pink. Took the neck pickup in this Danelectro and put it next to the bridge pickup for a cool humbucker-type setup. Is loud.

Still at it. Some really cool things came through the shop recently.

I got to work on this this for a friend’s father in law as a Christmas gift. I can’t tell what the brand is but it’s from 1956 and, considering its age, in really nice player condition. The bridge had been previously repaired (poorly) but it held tension and has a really nice round tone. What a good feeling it is bringing something back from unplayable condition.
