Instagram was once a platform to share photos with your friends and the general public. It essentially replaced Facebook. Now Instagram is all about the latest trends, tots and constant ADS. Let’s not forget about the large number of influencers coming out of the wazu and those reels with a 20 second sound. Any content I share for my business is rarely seen by outsiders even if I add 30 hashtags to it. I decided to create a reel (I removed it after 24hrs). It barely received any recognition! I even used trendy sound. It just goes to show you that my reel didn’t reach anyone. And yes, I have used Instagram’s “Boost Post” option and it doesn’t help unless you are putting $200+ /day to reach other accounts.
Now Etsy has made it difficult for your items to appear in their search. If you don’t pay for their advertising services or offer free shipping to Canada and the United States, your listing is at the very far end of their search engine. Then they have this “top seller” thing which isn’t fair to the little guys. To be a top seller, you have to sell up to $150 every month to qualify. I’m sure that is an indirect way to encourage buyers to only shop from “Top sellers”. Sure, that’s easy for the big companies that already have a business established (and still use Etsy to sell their products). If only Etsy can come up with something to help small business.
My friends have been my biggest support. I appreciate all of you for everything you have done to help me. 🥺✨
This is just a rant. I will not give up. I will create more reels and create content for Pinterest! I will become a content creator!
Sincerely,
A small business owner✨
