With its vibrant green glow, peridot is one of the few gemstones that occurs in only one colour, though its shade can range from bright lime green to rich olive depending on its iron content.

Known as the “gem of the sun,” peridot has been treasured for over 3,500 years. Ancient Egyptians mined it on a small island in the Red Sea, believing it protected against evil spirits and brought light to the wearer. Legend even says that some of Cleopatra’s famous emeralds may have actually been peridot!

Welcoming Hunter to the Team!

One of the things we’re most proud of at Nicol Street Pawnbrokers is that we’ve always been a family business.

This summer, Stephen’s son, Hunter, has been joining us on Wednesdays to learn the ropes. He’s been helping out around the shop and getting a firsthand look at what goes into serving our customers every day.

🔥 Hand Poured. One at a Time. 🔥

They’re finally here

After plenty of trial, error, and a whole lot of learning, our NSP hand-poured silver rounds are now available in the showcase!

Each round is poured by me (Brody) using 80% silver. Every piece weighs between 60 and 65 grams, and no two are exactly alike. Small differences in shape, texture, and finish are part of what makes each one unique, something you simply don’t get with mass-produced coins.

Every pour tells its own story, and every round is a little piece of the craft.

A Beautiful Piece of History, Hallmarked 1900

Some jewelry is made to be worn. Others are made to be treasured.

This remarkable 18kt gold ring was hallmarked in Birmingham in 1900 and features three vibrant natural sapphires surrounded by sparkling rose-cut diamonds. At 126 years old, this isn’t just a ring, it’s a piece of history.
