This is a question that I often get…notice the length of the hair and in the next picture the short length of the mortise (hole) where the bow has a limited space to tighten. If the brass eyelet holding the ebony frog onto the bow is all the way at the far end as this one is without the bow being tightened to playing tension, it’s because the hair is too long. A rehair is needed. Hair can stretch out after years of playing on it and/or if the bow is left to rest with the hair at playing tension too often.
