The City of Brantford is launching the "Golden Green Bin" contest to reward regular users of the waste-reduction program, and to encourage improvement to reach the necessary 70% reduction by 2030, in order to extend the lifespan of the landfill.

A winner in each ward will receive a $100 gift card to a grocery stores of their choice.

Also, mix layers of dry, such as dry leaves, in with the wet organics.

Paper food waste bags also work as dry layers, and keep odors in your kitchen down until the trip to the composter.
