We are so honoured to live on and with these lands. We honour the spirits of the indigenous peoples who were harmed in the residential school systems, as well as those who carry that harm in their bones today. May September 30th be a day for remembering, connecting, and acknowledging, and engaging.

The/my/our history as settlers is one of extreme and ongoing violence. It can be hard to acknowledge, but it's incrediby important to learn how to do so. The current political and social climates around the globe are evidence of our inability here. To sit with hard truths, to understand harm, to understand life, to share in our joys and our sorrows.

Healing doesn't happen in a vacuum. It is communal and collective. So engage in events, songs, films, conversations.
When you can see all the wonderful things we have been able to create, it's easier to know that the harms of our lineages do not have to be our future.

Ritual Beeswax Candles

Palestinian made Ritual Beeswax Candles made in Bethlehem, in the Occupied West Bank, by a small collective of artisans. Using traditional methods, these candles are just cotton wicks dipped into pure melted beeswax. No added scents, but the sweet honey emanating from them is almost hypnotic. Each candle burns for about 40 minutes.

These candles have travelled a long way to get here, and we are honoured to be able to share some handmade items while directly supporting Palestinian families.

The fights of our fore-queers and allies truly paved the way for the freedoms and community we have today. As well as a strong reminder that together, we have the power to stand up to narrow-minded and fear based ideologies. Change is hard, and fear is a f*cking beast, but it's nothing that shaking your ass while covered in sparkles next to your pride fam can't take on (and maybe a brick toss or two, metaphorically speaking of course...)
