Your eating window is the time span during the day when you are eating food. From the time you start in the morning til you end your day and go to sleep.

Reducing this window is called Fasting. This practice allows your body a time of rest and cleanses our body of toxins as well as forces cells into processes that are not usually stimulated when a steady stream of fuel from food is always present.

When we fast by reducing the eating window, the body doesn’t have its usual access to glucose, forcing the cells to resort to other means of materials to produce energy.

During the time of rest your body also focus on other key elements, including increasing metabolism, lowering blood sugar, decreasing inflammation and enhancing brain function.

There are so many benefits to fasting. To find out the specific window, @ look up the recommended time for fasting according to your age.

A great way to incorporate this slowly is to start with a shorter amount of time and incrementally add mounts of time til you reach the desired time frame.

This has been a daily practice for some time now. I enjoy the positive effects this presents in my day to day.

Your breath is an important part of a daily habit that should not be overlooked. Here are just a few reasons why 👇🏽

Your breath is a physical reflection of your mental state. The slow rhythmic breath stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system, which reduces the heart rate and relaxes the muscles and mind. If you are an anxious person this is a great practice for you.

It is also known to be an immune system booster. Diaphragmatic breathing expands the lungs, increasing efficiency in oxygen absorption, lowering cortisol levels, blood pressure, improving the autonomic nervous system, thereby enhancing the immune system.

It is a great practice for stress relief. When stressed we tend to take shallow breaths that limit the diaphragms full range of motion. Next time you feel stress levels rising, place one hand on your belly and take a deep breath through your nose and count to four, exhaling for the count of six. Feel your breath rise and fall, repeat for one minute.

Breath work also aides in increased energy, restorative sleep, digestive support and many more health benefits.

Drinking water increases the amount of calories you burn, which is knows as resting energy expenditure.

In adults, resting energy expenditure has been shown to increase by 24-30% within 10 minutes of drinking water. This lasts at least 60 minutes.

The amount of water you require each day depends on your age, activity level and weight.

A good way to estimate your hydration is:
1/2 your body weight + 12oz. Per 30-minute workout = water intake

Ex. 150-pound person who works out for 1 hr/day is 75 + 24 = 99oz

The thing about New Years resolutions that doesn’t quite work is setting unattainable goals, and usually without a plan to follow.

Whatever it is that you desire to change in your life, it’s not about a quantum leap transformation it’s about small incremental steps each day that change and replace habits that no longer serve you.

You will not see the difference in the first day, or week. But consistent action over a long period of time is how you will succeed in achieving your results.
