Learn How to Knit Socks (both Cuff Down and Toe Up) with Instructors Extraordinaire… Susan Chamberlain and Kathy Chapman.
4 Saturdays starting this Saturday October 25, then November 1, 8, & 15. (11 am to 2 pm)
Students must know how to knit, purl and be comfortable knitting in the round.
Participants will learn two different methods for knitting socks.
Using original patterns designed by Kathy & Susan, participants will knit two MINI socks in four 3 hour sessions. Kathy will lead the class in knitting traditional, cuff down socks with a heel flap for the first two Saturdays. Susan will demonstrate a toe up sock construction using the magic loop for the last two classes.
Techniques that participants will learn are; knitting in the round with double pointed needles, knitting in the round using a long circular needle(magic loop), constructing a heel flap and shaping the heel, Judy’s Magic Cast On, placing an afterthought heel, picking up stitches, increases and decreases for shaping, Jenny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind Off.
Class Fee is $80/participant. The class fee includes original patterns but does not include materials.
Materials required:
-2 balls of dk weight sock yarn, we recommend Perfect by Sandnes Garn, in a light or medium shade.
-3.5 mm double pointed needles, and -3.5 mm circular needle in 80 cm or 100 cm length.
