It's been a busy few weeks in the shop, and we wanted to share some of the custom projects we've recently completed.

Below are a few photos showcasing some of the items that have recently left the shop and made their way to customers across Canada.

Some of our recent work includes custom firefighter axe awards, crib boards, cheese boards, tumblers, horse brushes, personalized knives, de-shedding blades, sweat scrapers, Rummoli games, and boot jacks.

These projects were created for a variety of customers, organizations, and special events, with many more currently underway.

At CustomCuts, we focus on creating unique, handcrafted items that you simply can't walk into a store and buy. Whether it's a recognition award, a retirement gift, a fundraising item, or a custom keepsake, our goal is to create something meaningful that people are proud to receive and display.

There is something special about presenting a handcrafted item that recognizes an achievement, milestone, or special occasion. We take great pride in the quality, craftsmanship, and attention to detail that goes into every piece that leaves our shop.

There’s something special about creating awards that truly mean something.

For this year’s Nova Scotia Closed Provincial Championship & Selection Meet, we had the incredible honour of crafting custom handcrafted maple awards for the dancers of the Pictou County Highland Dance Association. These weren’t trophies picked from a catalog or ordered from a warehouse — each piece was individually designed, carved, engraved, finished, and assembled right here in Pictou County by us at Custom Cuts.

Made from solid maple hardwood, every award was carefully CNC carved, custom engraved for its specific placement and category, and finished with a vibrant UV-printed ScotDance Nova Scotia medallion. From the first design stage to the final coat of finish, every detail was created with the goal of making these awards worthy of the hard work, dedication, discipline, and passion these dancers bring to the stage.

Highland dancing takes years of practice, perseverance, courage, and commitment. These dancers leave everything on the stage every single time they compete, and we wanted these awards to reflect that level of achievement — something unique, meaningful, and built to last for years to come.

Seeing the dancers receive them was honestly one of the most rewarding parts of the entire project.

A huge thank you to Pictou County Highland Dance Association and ScotDance Nova Scotia for trusting us to be part of such a prestigious and special event. It truly means a lot to us to create pieces that celebrate accomplishments and become keepsakes for years to come.

Congratulations to all of the dancers, families, volunteers, judges, musicians, and organizers who made the event such a success. We hope these awards always remind the dancers of how much hard work, talent, and heart brought them to that moment.

We’ve been a little quiet lately—but behind the scenes, the shop has been busier than ever with some exciting custom projects in the works. As events take place, we’ll slowly start sharing what we’ve been creating.

Last month, we had the pleasure of working once again with the amazing team at Uniacke and District Volunteer Fire Department to help create unique gifts for their recent banquet.

One project was our custom Firefighter Axe Awards—something we’ve shared before, but with every new batch we continue refining the design and process to make them even better. The 2026 axes turned out beautifully, and we’d like to extend a huge congratulations to all of this year’s recipients on their outstanding accomplishments and dedication to the community.

We were also asked to create something brand new: a custom clock featuring the department’s logo. After some great collaboration and design discussions, we landed on a unique concept that was completely new for CustomCuts. It challenged us to learn new techniques, and in the end, we proudly completed 48 custom clocks just in time for the banquet.

Projects like these are what we love most—bringing ideas to life and creating meaningful, one-of-a-kind gifts you simply won’t find in a store.

Thank you for following along and supporting local craftsmanship. In the coming months, we’ll be sharing another exciting custom project that combines 3D CNC carving, laser engraving, and UV printing—and trust us, it’s going to be something special.
