Finding pieces by Kim Casali always brings me so much joy. There is something endlessly charming and genuinely comical about her iconic “Love Is...” cartoons. Take this 1972 George Good ceramic footed mug for example, featuring the classic cartoon couple with the hilarious punchline: “Love is... letting him have the last word sometimes”

The story behind it is just as sweet as the honey that used to be inside. In the late 1940s, journalist Kenneth McNeill Wells and his artist wife, Lucille Oille purchased a $15 century-old log shack and relocated it to a farm in Oro-Medonte, near Coldwater, Ontario. They named this rural retreat The Owl Pen and ran a highly successful apiary known as Coldwater Creek Honey!

This label has preserved pristinely and the glass has extraordinarily minimal surface wear, it’s truly a collectors piece but so functional for sugar, butter, vitamins, an absolute countertop delight!
