◼️Mom called the bag: DEER PRINTS◼️
🌾This art wearable was earthed from our late mother, Grace Archie who had created this loom piece...it was one of her first pieces creating with beads on a loom...her vision became this incredible pattern in the beads...
🌾We then sat together as a collective...Gladys, Mom, and I, discussing ideas around how we would capture mom's thoughts and stitch them together...Gladys being the one to put the creative masterpiece together...
🌾I suggested making a saddle bag style, cross the shoulder, broad strap bag...to keep with mom's "vintage" theme. Mom loved the concept. We went with the idea.
🌾I asked Gladys if it was possible to frame the beautiful loom piece with a traditional tan piece of hide...Gladys worked her magic...it showcased the piece perfectly.
🌾Gladys then made a paper pattern to capture the 3 dimensional effect of having the bag come to life...
🌾Next she cut out all the lighter traditional tan hide pieces to contrast against the framed beaded piece and then masterfully sewed them together with the complimentary, high quality cotton lining...maive ombre with a bit of shimmer... I was sent to pick it out from the local quilting place after we had finalized the design concept.
🌾Gladys added the final touches which included both, pinking shear (zigzag) the framed, beaded, loom piece and also the shoulder strap. Details are super important.
🌾The strap itself has a criss-cross pattern sewn on both sides of the bag and a one final criss-cross pattern on the top part of the shoulder where it is joined together.
Mom your creation speaks for itself...One of a Kind!
