I strategically made my Sept busy so I could get used to empty nest syndrome. This weekend at a mini cottage getaway taught me a lot of things.

Sometimes I just need to rest.

It brings clarity and a reminder that keeping busy or ignoring painful emotions is actually counterproductive to embracing the next chapter.

My husband and I came home both realizing we love our life, and the comforts of the home we built together.

The cottage was absolutely perfect, but so is our life. And while we can always wish for more things, (money, circumstances to be diff etc) our real flex in life is embracing gratitude to what we have now. Even Steve shared some reflections like that.

Feeling so much better.

So maybe the cottage away weekend worked, but I think the real revelation was time away to process it all.
