As most of you know, someone recently tried to break into my store at 21 Mill Street, Orangeville.
After reviewing our security cameras, we know who the individual is. Thankfully, a passing vehicle scared him off before he was able to get inside.
After speaking with a few people, it's my understanding that he was trying to steal my SPCA donation cash box, which is filled through the generosity of our amazing community from donations made through our novels, jelly bean machine, brooches, coffee, and treat station.
I will be posting the security video this week. It is not to shame or embarrass anyone, but simply to make other businesses and our community aware of an individual who has shown no remorse for his actions.

What makes this even more heartbreaking is that about a year ago, he came into my store and told me he had heard I help people experiencing homelessness.
I gladly helped him by giving him a few outfits, a pair of shoes, a backpack to carry his belongings, and money for lunch.
To think that someone I chose to help would return a year later, smash the glass insert in my front door, and attempt to steal money that was donated to help the Orangeville SPCA is incredibly disappointing.
That said, I also want to focus on the kindness that still exists in this world.
A huge thank you to Brett Jeanveau, owner of The Window Whiz – Window & Door Experts, for coming to my store and replacing my broken glass insert and frame.
Brett was absolutely amazing—professional, compassionate, and someone with a truly generous heart. I can't say enough wonderful things about him. It's refreshing to know there are still genuinely kind and caring people in this world.
