To a new weaver, the process of preparing a warp, putting it on the loom and weaving can be a confusing process with many new terms, tools and processes to learn.
There are many books explaining handweaving in great detail but they can be overwhelming to someone just trying to understand how the weaving process “works” and what they will need to try it out.
One question we often get is “now that I have a loom, which tools do I need?”.
To answer this we have put together a brief summary of the warping and weaving process along with the tools that are normally used at each step.

This is not meant to be a comprehensive guide to weaving and does not replace the detailed explanation found in some of the excellent weaving books that are available, but gives a high level overview of what weaving is, to those that are curious about the process.
